OWNER / TATTOOER
A Long Island native, Erik Desmond began his apprenticeship at Peter Tat2 with Frank Romano, West Hempstead, Long Island in 1988. Under Franks tutelage, Erik gained the necessary skills to forge his place in those early years, and learned how to sustain his career over 30 years later. Soon thereafter, Erik was given the opportunity to work alongside Alex Herman and Eddy Deutsche, at Dynamic Tattoo, in Deer Park, Long Island. This went on to help propel Erik’s proficiency in a multitude of eclectic styles, and further hone his love for Japanese and American Traditonal tattooing.
After 18 years working in street shops, Erik decided it was time to open his own private studio. Aptly named from his Japanese given tattooing moniker, it was called Horifudo Studios; Smithtown, Long Island, and was a quiet, and personal studio. It offered a comfortable place for a one on one tattooing experience rivaled by none. However, after 9+ years of successfully operating Horifudo Studios, Erik grew to miss the street shop atmosphere, and made a choice to go back to his roots, opening Loyalty Tattoo, in West Babylon, Long Island.
Erik is an Expert-Tattooer, proficient in all styles, with a focus on Japanese-style tattooing and iconography. Erik has studied Japanese art and culture, for a significant portion of his life, in and outside of tattooing. Having appeared in various publications over the years and tattooing around the world, Erik still finds time to frequent conventions, and guest spot all across the United States.
Erik is available by appointment, or for the occasional walk-in if luck strikes you right. He works 12p-9pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, and 12p-5pm every Tuesday.
